New Stance co-produce new Sky documentary ‘Micah Richards Tackling Racism’
The film will explore the scale of the racism in British football, starring Former England and Premier League player, Micah Richards.
We are delighted to announce that New Stance and production company Buzz 16 are co-producing a new Sky documentary, ‘Micah Richards Tackling Racism’. Airing in October, former England and Premier League footballer, Micah Richards explores the true scale of the racism problem in British football, and what can be done about it.
New Stance CEO and Co Founder, Mark Keisner added: “Despite working with sporting and entertainment talent and brands for many years, I can still see this gulf between well-intentioned initiatives for change but then also the reality on the ground. We already know this problem exists and so we wanted to make the documentary something that offers an intelligent, considered, fair and constructive contribution to the fight against racism in football, across all levels.
We are thrilled to have Micah present the documentary. He is a first-hand witness and sufferer of racial abuse, and so becomes that absolutely vital element of documentary making, the ‘trustworthy narrator’. Recently retired, fresh from the dressing room, his experiences as a player are current and fundamentally relevant. Micah has previously noted that he was afraid to talk out while playing, for fear of damaging his career. This documentary will act as the platform to give him a voice, and the chance to give to others too.
It has also been great working closely with Sanjay Bhandari and the Kick It Out team who have been providing insights and up to date research to support the documentary.”
